Today was filled with many emotions. I’m finally coming out of the 30 hour travel coma I’ve been in. I woke up today at 4:30 am, so each day is closer to normal.
I sent out emails to Robby from Jenga and had other email exchanges with Mary from Kings Primary School. Both productive and moving the ministry in the direction I see God leading. I keep checking on Scott, as he is still in Uganda. I feel a responsibility to watch over him until he arrives safely back home in Texas. I think he and I are on the same level in that Uganda is home to both of us, so I needed to clarify which home I meant. I read his blog today and God is still using him to speak to the men in Uganda. He’s with Mark Hensley and both are a blessing!
I also read some disturbing news about a young boy named Laban in Tororo. It appears that his mother re-married and gave birth to twins. The step-father has been after the mother to get rid of her son. She has been abusing the boy for sometime now, physically, by torturing him. She has burned the backs of his legs so badly that I’m not sure how he can walk, other than the grace of God. It also appears that his step-father attempted to kill him yesterday with a machete. The boy ran to the neighbors house and hid until police arrived. Both the mother and step-father are in custody pending charges.
Because of her reputation for rescuing the afflicted, the police called Pastor Ruth to come and take the young boy. Due to the nature of the case, I can’t post his picture, nor do I feel that anyone needs to see the horrific sight of it.
Please pray for protection of children, like Laban. There are many cases like this in Uganda. Pastor Ruth has the space available to nurture children of abuse. The problem is that her fence is chain and has holes around it. The children are able to escape, or parents are able to get a hold of them and dispose of them. She is praying for a brick wall to surround her compound, to keep the children safe.
Contact was made with a sponsor of the trip in regards to some funding owed. Within that conversation, another conversation took place about a possible job opening for Mark. Praying that God would open doors for him. It’s coming up on 9 months of his being out of work.
I’m searching for solar panels/energy modules to put at Kings Primary School. Many contacts have come in, and I see God doing some wonderful things with this.
